Baseball: 14 Consecutive Wins and Counting

The varsity baseball team pushed its win streak to 14 games and its overall record to 15-1 this past week with two victories against Trinity and another against Orange. In the first win against the Trojans, Ty Plucinsky '20 (pictured on the left) picked up the 19-5 win on the mound as Garrett Olsen '20 (pictured on the right) totaled four RBI to pace the offense. In the second game against Trinity, Joey Hollis '20 earned his fourth win of the season in the 13-7 outing. Matt Christopher '20 and Ben DeMell '21 had key hits and Olsen again led the team with three RBI. Gilmour concluded the week with a 5-0 win against Orange. DeMell went the distance to improve to 6-0 on the season. He gave up just two hits while striking out nine.

Batting Average: Ben DeMell '21 (.565)

RBI: Ben DeMell '21 (22), Garrett Olsen '20 (19), Nick Christopher '19 (18)

HR: Matt Christopher '20 (2), Ben DeMell '21 (1)

Pitching Wins: Ben DeMell '21 (6)

Pitching ERA: Ben DeMell '21 (0.19)

Strikeouts: Ben DeMell '21 (63)

At the junior varsity level, the Lancers (8-4) recorded one win and one loss this past week. The win came against Orange as the Lancers earned a 15-5 run rule in five innings. The offense was led by Sonny Iacampo '21 who belted his third home run of the season. Kyle Laws '22 had several hits and Paddy Murphy '22 totaled four RBI. The team's lone loss of the week was a close 5-3 finish against Solon. The Lancers saw strong pitching efforts from Frankie Valenti '21 and Charlie Shepherd '21.

The reserve team (2-4) had a tough week, losing both of its games as Boardman and Woodridge got the best of the Lancers. Daniel Jevnikar '22 had a few solid hits and Nico DiFranco '22 had a couple RBI.
