The varsity baseball team earned the North Coast League (NCL) championship after defeating Villa Angela-St. Joseph twice. The two conference wins put Gilmour at a perfect 10-0 to complete their first year as a NCL member. In the wins, Joey Hollis '20 (pictured on the left) and Ty Plucinsky '20 (pictured on the right) each picked up pitching victories, while Garrett Olsen '20 and Ben DeMell '21 added five and four RBI, respectively. The Lancers then went on to earn two independent wins against rival University School and St. Vincent-St. Mary, to improve the team's win streak to a program-record 18 games. In the 13-0 Battle of SOM victory against US, DeMell threw five shutout innings as Jack Krebs '19 posted a three-hit performance.

In the final win of the week, Gilmour put on an impressive performance to earn the come-from-behind W. After trailing 7-0 in the fifth inning, the Lancers scored 13 unanswered runs that were highlighted by a grand slam from Nick Christopher '19 and a two-run home run by DeMell. With the win, GA improved to 19-1 on the season.

The Lancers also learned this past week that they earned the number-one seed in the OHSAA Division II Gates Mills Sectional/District Tournament. As a result, the team earned a bye in the first round. They host either Jefferson or Conneaut on May 13 at 5 p.m. at GA's Figgie Field in a sectional final game. Check out the complete bracket here
