The varsity baseball team (19-4) was on a program-record, 18-game winning streak before the run came to an end last week. The Lancers met up with a string of Division I opponents who put Gilmour to the test and ended the team's winning ways. University School, Riverside and Archbishop Hoban each dealt Gilmour a loss, which is something the team hadn't experienced since March 28. In the losses, the Lancers saw some bright spots that included strong pitching from Joey Hollis '20 against Hoban, key hits from Garrett Olsen '20 and Matt Christopher '20 (pictured on the left), and another school record broken by Nick Christopher '19 (pictured on the right). He became the new single-season record holder for doubles. Earlier this season, he became the career record holder in the same statistic. His offensive efforts of late also earned him News-Herald Player of the Week for May 9.

In junior varsity baseball news, the Lancers (11-8) faced some tough challenges this past week in the form of University School, Riverside, Hoban and St. Ignatius. The team battled tough in a 14-inning game against US, but, unfortunately, took the loss. They were able to pull out the victory over Division I Riverside by a score of 8-5. Josh Bruce '22 went 2-for-3 with three RBI.  The Lancers will finish up the season next week.

In reserve team action, Gilmour (2-5) went head-to-head against a very strong Canfield team, and unfortunately, did not come out on the winning end. A highlight of the game was an RBI single by Mick Hopkins '22.
