It's been one heck of a ride this year for the varsity baseball team and it's not over yet. The Lancers recently defeated Notre Dame-Cathedral Latin 5-1 in the OHSAA Division II Gates Mills District Tournament Semifinals. The win advanced the Lancers to the district final game where they took on Chardon. Gilmour had quite an impressive showing against the same opponents that knocked them out of the postseason last year at the same exact point. This year, the Lancers posted a 10-0 win to earn a bid to the regional tournament. Joey Hollis '20 earned the victory on the mound after throwing a two-hit shutout against the Hilltoppers. Matt Christopher '20 led the offense with three hits and scored three of the team's runs. Gilmour is 22-6 overall and plays next Thursday, May 30 at 5 p.m. at the Ballpark at Hudson against Poland Seminary. Tickets for this region semifinal game are $7 and will be sold at the gate.
