In one of the most anticipated games each season, the varsity football team took on crosstown rival Hawken School in the "Battle for the Helmet." This year's rivalry game was played in the confines of Weber Stadium. Playing in front of another packed house, the Lancers did not disappoint as they earned the right to keep the helmet for another year, defeating the Hawks 41-14.

Gilmour jumped out to a 14-0 lead in the first quarter and never looked back. Quarterback Thomas Richardson '22 opened the scoring attack with a one-yard touchdown run, followed by a 15-yard TD pass to Nathan Reichard '20 (pictured on the left). A switch at QB in the second quarter saw Dan Jevnikar '22 score on a 14-yard run. He then linked up with Reichard for two scores in a row, including a 65-yard pass followed by an 11-yard pass to take a 35-7 advantage into halftime.

The final score of the day for the Lancers was a 65-yard run by Connor Krebs '20. He finished the afternoon as the team's leading rusher with 93 yards on 11 carries. Santino Harper '23 (pictured on the right) totaled 87 yards on 11 carries.

Defensively, the Lancers were led by Rocco Hice '23 with nine tackles and Mick Hopkins '22 with eight tackles. Aidan Muchnicki '20 had two interceptions and Harper had one.

Gilmour is now 2-1 overall.

In other football news, Harper was recently named the News-Herald Player of the Week for his outstanding performance in Gilmour's win against Warrensville Heights. In that game, he carried the ball 28 times for a total of 182 yards with two touchdowns.
