After rushing for 148 yards with one touchdown on 15 carries to help lead the Gilmour Academy football team to a 39-20 victory against Lutheran East this past weekend, there's no question as to why Santino Harper '23 was selected as the News-Herald Football Player of the Week.

The second-year Lancer running back/defensive back played every snap on offense and defense, plus he was also on the kick return team. In addition to his impressive rushing yards, he tallied 21 yards on two catches, one of which was a definite contender for ESPN's Top 10 Plays of the Week. On defense, Harper totaled seven tackles and had two interceptions with one resulting in a 68-yard pick six.

"Santino has worked extremely hard in the offseason and put on close to 15 pounds of muscle and it showed this past Saturday," said Lancer head coach Chris Kosiorek. "He was on the field for every play and performed at a high level the entire game."
