The Gilmour Academy varsity football team hosted Trinity in a special Friday night home game. It was an action-packed battle under the Gates Mills sunset and the outcome was decided in the final minutes of play. Gilmour lost 42-34. 

Leading the way offensively for the Lancers were Thomas Richardson '22 with 165 yards rushing on 25 carries with three touchdowns; Santino Harper '23 with 118 yards rushing on 20 carries with one touchdown, and 23 yards receiving with one touchdown; and Tommy McCrone '23 (pictured on the right) with 38 yards on three carries, including a two-point conversion. McCrone also had a spectacular reception that totaled 31 yards.

Defensively, Rocco Hice '23 had a team-high 15 tackles. Mick Hopkins '22 (pictured on the left) had 11 tackles and .5 sacks, while Joe Rottinghaus '21 and Charlie Shepherd '21 totaled eight tackles apiece. Mitch Lamosek '21 led the team with 1.5 sacks on the night.

Additionally, Anders Sorensen '22 did very well with the kicking responsibilities.

In other football news, the Lancers have several players listed among the area leaders according to the News-Herald weekly statistics released on September 17. Richardson is first in scoring, while ranking in the Top 15 in three other categories, including rushing yards (fifth), passing (11th) and passing touchdowns (14th). He is joined in the Top 15 by several of his teammates, including Harper in interceptions (fifth), rushing yards (seventh), scoring (seventh), and receptions (12th), and Hice in sacks (11th). Shepherd ranks 25th in tackles for loss.
