Junior Varsity Football Team Finishes Season 3-1

The Gilmour Academy junior varsity football team ended their fall campaign on a two-game winning streak, and finished their season with a 3-1 record.

The Lancers traveled to Chagrin Falls for their final game of the season on Wednesday, October 21, and defeated the Tigers 40-6.  The team's impressive offensive efforts were led by quarterback Jake Kavcic '24, who threw three touchdown passes, and ran in one more. His brother, Andy Kavcic '24 caught two touchdown passes, and wide receiver Evan Wintersteller '24 also pulled in a touchdown. Tommy McCrone '23 and Jesse Shepherd '23 each threw a touchdown pass to round out the scoring for the Lancers.

Defensively, the team was lights out during the course of the season. The Lancers held their last two opponents to six points combined, as they beat Cuyahoga Falls 38-0 on Saturday, October 17.

Head coach Chris Kosiorek was pleased by the team's effort during the final stretch of the season, "The past two junior varsity games is a small sample of what we can do with this group returning, on top of the upperclassmen who are returning to the program."
