Gilmour Academy announces the hiring of Tommy Zagorski as the head varsity football coach, effective immediately. Zagorski comes to Gilmour from the University of Akron, where he served as the offensive coordinator and offensive line coach since 2018.

Prior to working at the University of Akron, Zagorski served as the assistant head coach, tight ends coach and offensive coordinator at Eastern Kentucky University from 2016-2018; as an assistant offensive line coach at the University of Tennessee from 2015-2016; and as the offensive coordinator, offensive line coach, director of football operations and academic coordinator at John Carroll University from 2008-2015. Prior to these college coaching positions, Zagorski worked as the alumni director and assistant track coach at Benedictine High School.

In his most recent role as the offensive coordinator and offensive line coach at the University of Akron, Zagorski managed a staff of 12 employees and 50 players; was heavily involved in recruiting efforts; organized practice plans, daily staff meetings and team events; and was instrumental in helping to raise the team GPA.

Zagorski graduated from Case Western Reserve University in 2007 with a bachelor's degree in sociology and pre-law. He went on to earn his master's degree in school counseling from John Carroll University in 2011. In addition to his coaching role, Zagorski will serve as Gilmour's testing center coordinator and student support associate. He will also work with the College Counseling Office as an athletics college liaison.

Add to that his work ethic and his deep commitment to his faith and to service and you have an incredible role model not just for our football players, but for all the Gilmour students with whom he will work. He is an incredible addition to our Gilmour community."

Zagorski said, "I am honored to be named the head football coach at Gilmour Academy! Gilmour has a tremendous reputation of developing young men and women that truly have the courage to make a difference in our society today. My family and I are excited to help add to the remarkable educational experience and add to the athletic excellence that is synonymous with Lancer athletics."
