The boys prep hockey team went 1-1 this past weekend, splitting an exciting series with the myhockeyrankings.com No.-6 ranked Culver Academy (Ind.). No.-4 ranked Gilmour hosted both games with each extending beyond regulation. The first game of the series was the Skate for a Solution Game to raise money and awareness for autism through the nonprofit organization Autism Speaks. Special guests Joey Nook, son of former Lancer assistant coach Joe Nook, and Michael Hansen, brother of Lancer golfer Mark Hansen '21, participated in the honorary puck drop prior to the game. Fox 8 News was also on hand and aired a 30-second spot about the event in both of their Sunday morning broadcasts.

Despite scoring just 20 seconds into the game, the Lancers lost 3-2 after overtime and a shootout. The following morning, the two teams met again, and this time, Gilmour won 8-7 in overtime. After trailing 7-3 with just 12 minutes to play, Gilmour fired off four unanswered goals to tie the game at the end of regulation. In OT, Dominic Schimizzi (PG) scored the game-winner only 15 seconds into the bonus period. He recorded a hat trick in the win.

Gilmour is currently 15-7-1 on the season.

A special thank you to all who made donations to the Skate for a Solution event. If you were unable to donate at the game and still wish to contribute, please make your check payable to Autism Speaks and mail to:
