Last week, the varsity boys lacrosse team logged two wins in two games, defeating Walsh Jesuit and Orange. The Walsh game was the highlight of the week. It was an extremely close contest with neither team leading by more than a goal until back-to-back tallies by attackman Jesse Galassi '19 (pictured on the left) put Gilmour up 9-6. The Warriors answered with two late goals to make it a one-goal game at 9-8, which would eventually stand as the final. Goalie Kessel Richards '21 made a great stop with under 10 seconds to play to preserve the win. He totaled seven saves for the night. Lee Sullivan '19 led the scoring with three goals and two assists, followed by Cisco Martinez '19 with three goals, one assist and eight ground balls, Galassi with three goals and one assist, midfielder Ricky Roberts '20 with one goal and Robby Belknap '21 with one assist. Defensemen Bryce Hofstrom '20 and Josh Miavitz '20 totaled four ground balls each and were leaders on the defensive end. Midfielder Nico DiGiannantonio '20 (pictured on the right) successfully battled one of the top face-off men in the state all game long.

In the second win of the week against Orange, the Lancers scored a season-high 18 goals to run away with the victory as their opponents scored just once. Every Lancer saw meaningful minutes in the contest with nine different players finding the back of the net. Martinez, Belknap and Galassi were the top scorers as Roberts and Joe Roddy '21 had two assists apiece.

The wins improved Gilmour to a 7-1 on the season.
