The varsity boys soccer team seemed to have been peaking at just the right moment, logging a 5-1-1 record in the month of October as it headed into the OHSAA Division II Sectional Final match. The Lancers even pulled off a 2-0 upset in its second-to-last game of the regular season, shutting out the district's top-ranked team of Lake Catholic, 2-0 on the road. Gilmour went on to victory in the first game of the postseason, defeating Chardon, 4-0 in sectional semifinal play. The Lancers then faced Notre Dame-Cathedral Latin High School in the sectional finals. The two teams met up earlier in the season with Gilmour losing a closely-contested match on the road, 3-2. In the postseason, however, the Lancers were unable to keep the game as close as the Lions earned a 4-0 win to end Gilmour's season. The Lancers were 9-6-3 overall. Bowdan Slabe '20 finished as the team's top offensive player, leading the way in goals (16) and points (35). Alexander Beedles '22 (pictured on the left) was second in both goals (6) and points (15) as Eric Brandt '21 (pictured on the right) led the team with seven assists, followed by Cody Tippen '20 with five assists. In goal, Matt Beck '21 totaled 96 saves, while allowing just 26 goals on the year.
