Cross Country: Pat Ritchie Invite Results

The varsity cross country teams traveled to Walsh Jesuit for the Pat Ritchie Invitational this past Saturday. Competing in the DII/DIII varsity race, the boys came away with their strongest showing of the season, finishing fifth of nine teams. Bryson Simpson '20 continued his excellent form, leading the Lancers with a seventh-place finish in a career-best 17:27. Cole Durdella '20 finished 16th in 18:02. The freshman duo of Scott Vergilli '23 (pictured on the left) and Will Kay '23 continued their inaugural campaigns by finishing 41st and 42nd, respectively. Garret Tomasek '20 rounded out the scoring with a 46th-place showing. Everett Hunter '21 (50th) and Andrew Lewis '23 (66th) also ran excellent races in a talented field.

The girls took the course next and came away with third-place honors in a very competitive race. The Lancers tallied 83 points, only 15 from first-place Salem High School. Gilmour was led by the talented troika of Caitrina Barton '21 (pictured on the right) (fourth place in 20:27), Kaitlin Rulison '23 (eighth in 20:55) and Mary Lombardo '22 (ninth in 20:55). The rest of the Lancer pack showed excellent team running, with Ava Moe '22 (29th in 22:27), Jorja Hlifka '20 (35th in 22:40), Mia Polisena '22 (45th in 23:13), Nina Padanilam '22 (62nd in 25:14) and Edith Tomasek '23 (75th in 27:20) all putting forth outstanding effort.
