This past Saturday, the cross country team traveled to Boardman High School for the Spartan Invitational, one of the premier events in the state. The weather was hot and humid with little shade on the course, but the Lancers rose to the occasion.

The boys team ran first, and, with its senior leadership all taking the ACT, the boys fielded a young lineup who all raced to 33rd place out of 49 teams. Justin Wen '23 (pictured on the left) was the top finisher for the Lancers in 191st place. Alexander Beedles '22 (208th), Everett Hunter '21 (209th) and Will Kay '23 (229th) rounded out the scoring for Gilmour.

The girls team then took to the course and came away with fifth-place honors in a field of 50 schools, ranking third out of Ohio schools. Gilmour was again led by the big three of Caitrina Barton '21 (fourth), Kaitlin Rulison '23 (pictured on the right) (16th) and Mary Lombardo '22 (24th). Rulison's finish also earned her the distinction of "best freshman" in the race. Excellent runs by Mia Polisena '22 (83rd) and Ava Moe '22 (107th) completed the scoring for the Lancers.
