Softball: Lancers Win Three as Mlinaric Sets Program Record

It was a great week for the varsity softball team as it outscored opponents 43-7 en route to earning three wins. In the week's opener, Gilmour defeated Beaumont 15-5 after exploding for 12 runs in the top of the first. Emmy Klika '20 had a four-hit afternoon with two doubles, two runs and five RBI. Maggie Goff '20 earned the win.

 

Gilmour then recorded a 10-0 shutout of North Coast League (NCL) opponent Villa Angela-St. Joseph. Megan Mlinaric '22 (pictured on the left) threw all five innings without giving up a single hit or run. She struck out 10. Alexys Foster '19 and Frankie Coan '20 each went 2-for-3 with two and one RBI, respectively. The team totaled 10 hits, four of which were doubles. Gilmour also had 12 stolen bases with Julia Beaven '19 and Abby Bartlett '19 leading the way with three apiece. 

 

Then in a win against Hathaway Brown, the score was 4-2 with the Lancers leading heading into the top of the fifth. The Gilmour offense caught fire and plated 14 runs that inning. Klika turned in another strong offensive performance with four hits, two runs and four RBI. She had one home run and two stolen bases. Christina Moore '20 (pictured on the right) also had four hits, two runs and one RBI to go along with one triple. Mlinaric threw all five innings, giving up only three hits. She struck out nine to become the new program record holder for strikeouts in a season with 58.

The Lancers improved to 7-3 overall and 4-0 in the conference.
