The girls prep hockey season came to an end this past weekend in a dramatic finish. Although Gilmour's hopes for a bid to the National Tournament were squashed, the team couldn't have ended the year in a more exciting way. The Lancers began the weekend with a Mid-American Tournament game against Culver Academy on Friday. The team played hard, but fell short of the victory, 3-2. Goals were scored by Jenna Salminen '20 (pictured on the left) and Ani Fitzgerald '19.

Then on Sunday, the Lancers took to the ice to take on Pittsburgh Pens Elite. It was the final game of the season and, by far, the best and most exciting game of the season as Gilmour earned a 2-1 shootout win. The goal in regulation was scored by Fitzgerald and shootout goals were scored by Lexi Nguyen '20 (pictured on the right), Morgan Miller '19 and Gretchen Klens '19

Julia Beaven '19 stepped up in net and provided an absolutely clutch performance in regulation as well as the shootout with several amazing stops.

Although it was not quite the ending the team hoped for, the coaching staff was pleased with the final performance.

"We could not have ended on a better note or with a better team. Absolutely amazing effort from front to back and winning against our rivals in a shootout was extremely exciting and emotional for all. We love and will miss our seniors dearly and are excited to see what their futures hold, and we're just as excited to watch our returners continue to grow and step up for next year."
