The Lancer girls prep hockey team recently traveled to Shadyside Academy in Pennsylvania for three games. Unfortunately the trip was cut short after a windstorm knocked out the power. The team was able to play one of its games against Portledge School from New York. The Lancers started off strong and went up 2-0 early with goals from Lexi Nguyen '20 and Quinn Hartmetz '21. According to head coach Seanna Conway, "bus legs and some rust kicked in," allowing Portledge to answer with two quick goals to tie the game.

In the third period, Gilmour remained calm and again took the lead with a goal from Francesca Cappello '20. In the last minute of play, Portledge pulled their goalie for the extra attacker. The Lancers stayed the course and handled the pressure smoothly. Defenseman Delaney Mayer '20 got control and rifled the puck all the way from the Lancer blue line to bury the team's fourth and final goal to secure the win. Hope Crisafi '20 was tested throughout the game and looked strong in net as team hard hat honors for Player of the Game went to Nguyen.

The Lancers took the time off the ice to tour NCAA Division III Chatham University, where they were able to participate in an extensive Q&A about college hockey with Chatham women's hockey head coach Mike O'Grady.

Then, this past weekend, Gilmour hosted Meijer for two games. In the first game, the Lancers lost 3-0 and in the second matchup, they lost 2-0. Goaltenders Crisafi and Kristiana Apsite PG battled hard in net.

"The Lancer squad is a little depleted with injuries right now, so the girls are finding it tough to produce offense," said Conway as she credited Meijer as being a feisty opponent.

The team finished the weekend with a scrimmage against Team CLE, a team made up of highly skilled ex-collegiate players, including Gilmour alum and NCAA DIII champion Carly Menges '15, alum Katie Kofron '03 Virtue, and NCAA DI Champion and former Lancer girls prep assistant coach Vanessa Gagnon. Age and experience won out in this match up, with Team CLE besting the Lancers 6-2.
