The Gilmour girls prep hockey team competed in one of the biggest weekends of its season in a NAPHA League Championship weekend hosted by Stanstead College in Quebec. The team turned in an amazing performance overall, falling just a bit short in the quarterfinals.

In the first game, Gilmour defeated Rothesay Netherwood School (New Brunswick) 3-2 in overtime. Goals were scored by Bella Sprang '21Alaina Giampietro '22 and the game winner by Julija Blazinsek '21 in three-on-three action off of a breakaway. The game-winning assist came from Quinn Hartmetz '21. This was a huge win for the Lancers since they had never beaten RNS before.

In the second game against Nichols School (N.Y.), it seemed fatigue had gotten the better of the Lancers, which was the only team scheduled to play two games that day following a 12-hour bus ride the day before. Gilmour dropped the game by a score of 2-0 as Nichols scored two early unanswered goals.

The next day, the Lancers played in the quarterfinals at 7 p.m., again facing Nichols. Head coach Seanna Conway referred to it as "an incredible game" between the No. 4 and No. 5 seeds.

The Lancers went up 2-0 off of goals from Blazinsek and Giampietro, but later in the game, a few penalties proved costly as Nichols tied the score. In the third period, Nichols went up 3-2. The Lancers pulled goalie Kristiana Apsite PG for an extra attacker and came close in the final minutes.

Blazinsek, Apsite and Emma Pickering '23 all received Player of the Game honors throughout the tournament. Giampietro was named Gilmour's Player of the Tournament.

"She was outstanding all weekend, as were Kristiana, Julija and Emma," said Conway.

The tournament was won by host Standstead, who defeated RNS in OT.
