Girls Lacrosse: Gilmour Wins Against Brecksville

The varsity girls lacrosse team (3-10) recently won its third game of the season. The team defeated Brecksville-Broadview Heights 16-5 in a home contest at Weber Stadium. Ellie Heller '19 led the team with five goals and one assist. Molly Boyle '21 totaled four goals, five draw controls and one assist. Lexi Nguyen '20 added three goals and one assist, while Meg Whalen '21 contributed two goals, two assists and three ground ball controls. Meaghan Stack '21 rounded out the scoring with one goal as Kaitlin Grady '20 had one assist and three ground ball controls. On the defensive end, solid efforts were given by Olivia Robida '19 (pictured on the right) and Ali Powell '20 (pictured on the left), while Aggie Breen '22 recorded six saves in goal.

The Lancers then lost a well-played away game to Mentor 14-11. After trailing 6-1 at the half, Gilmour came out strong to outscore the Cardinals 10-8 in the second stanza. Stack turned in an excellent performance with five goals and three draw controls. Grady also performed well with one goal and four draw controls. In goal, Breen and Caruso split time and each did a great job. 

The Lancers close out the regular season with two home games before beginning their postseason journey on May 15 when they head to Kenston for a 6:30 p.m. game. Playoff ticket prices in the opening rounds are $7 for seniors, adults and students.
