Girls Tennis: Cohen Earns NCL Singles Title

Gilmour Academy served as host of the 2019 North Coast League (NCL) White Division Varsity Girls Tennis Tournament. The Lancers welcomed Beaumont School, Lake Catholic High School and Padua Franciscan High School. Playing in 90-degree heat, the athletes competed for several hours in order to crown the champion. Beaumont came away with the team title as Gilmour finished tied for second. First singles player Carly Cohen '20 (pictured) handily won both of her matches, first defeating Lake Catholic 6-0, 6-0 and then beating Beaumont 6-0, 6-0. She earned the title of singles champion and was also named All-NCL First-Team. In second doubles action, partners Hadley Hairston '21 and Claire Jablonski '21 finished in second place after defeating Lake Catholic 6-2, 6-1 before losing to Beaumont 6-0, 6-3.
