Track & Field: Rodgers Earns MVP Honors and Diemer Sets Meet Record as Team Does Well at Beachwood Invitational

This past Saturday, the varsity track & field program competed at the Beachwood Bison Invitational against a stacked group of opponents. The boys finished third out of 17 teams and the girls were fifth out of a field of 18 teams.

Andre Rodgers '21 (pictured on the right) was named the meet MVP after sweeping the 100, 200 and 400 in impressive fashion. Tim Diemer '19 (pictured on the left) set a meet record, winning the 800 in a time of 1:59.42. Gilmour's 4x800 team of Bryson Simpson '20Cole Durdella '20Alexander Beedles '22 and Craig Wilson '20 finished in first place. 

Additional notable finishes included Tyler Clark '19 (third in the 800), Nathan Reichard '20 (fourth in the 400), Ryan Gondek '19 (fourth in the discus with an all-time best throw of 122-05), Garret Tomasek '20 (fifth in the 110 hurdles and eighth in the 300 hurdles) and Durdella (eighth in the 1600).

For the girls, Karah Henderson '22 held off a strong competitor from Euclid to win the 100 hurdles in a time of 15.31 as Katie Engle '19 made a strong showing as the winner of the 800 in 2:25. The 4x800 relay of Engle, Mary Lombardo '22Nina Padanilam '2 2and Caitrina Barton '21 took second.

Additional notable individual performances included Mackenzie Palinski '21 (second in the discus and sixth in the shot put), Madison Olsen '20 (fourth in the 200 and seventh in the 400), Jorja Hlifka '20 (eighth in the 400) and Alannah Barton '19 (eighth in the 3200).

The 4x400 relay of Henderson, Engle, Sophia Giancola '20 and Olsen also had a nice race, finishing fourth.
