The varsity volleyball team was put to the test this past week, facing some of the top teams in the area. The Lancers suffered a loss to Lake Catholic on its home court early in the week before finding its rhythm and bouncing back to earn a victory in a North Coast League (NCL) match on the road versus Villa Angela-St. Joseph Academy. Gilmour then competed in the NEO Power Tournament hosted by Mentor High School, which featured 12 tough teams over a two-day period. The Lancers earned 2-0 wins against Laurel and Nordonia before falling to Lake Catholic for the second time in the week. The team's 2-1 record moved the Lancers into the third-place match against host Mentor in day two of competition. Gilmour went 2-1 against the Cardinals to secure the third-place honor. Emmy Klika '21 (pictured on left) and Kathryn Randorf '22 (pictured on right) were named to the All-Tournament team for their outstanding play throughout the weekend.

At the junior varsity level, the Lancers worked hard in matches against both Lake Catholic and VASJ. Although victory eluded the team against both opponents, the Lancers had valuable learning opportunities they can apply to their next game. Overall, the team's chemistry is continuing to grow and the coaching staff is looking forward to a strong finish to the season.

At the freshman level, Gilmour recorded two fabulous wins against Lake Catholic and VASJ to improve its winning streak to three games. Head Coach Kennedy Clyde characterized the matches as great team wins with a lot of hustle. The team worked extremely hard from point one to point 25 and played very smart, mixing up their shots in order to keep their opponents off balance.
