It was an exciting week for the varsity volleyball team as it competed in the OHSAA Division II District Tournament on its home court in Lancer Gymnasium. As the number one seed in the Gates Mills District, the Lancers earned a first-round bye in the postseason before cruising to victory against Hawken in the sectional final game in order to advance to the district portion of the tournament. In the district semifinal round, Gilmour defeated Aurora in three sets (25-15, 25-8, 25-15). The Lancers then faced off against Kenston in the district finals. It was a tougher challenge, but the Lancers came out victorious in three sets (25-19, 25-16, 25-13) and were named district champions. They earned an automatic berth to the OHSAA Division II Regional Tournament. The Lancers head to Stow-Munroe Falls High School to take on rival Notre Dame-Cathedral Latin in the regional semifinals on October 31. The winner advances to the regional final game that will be played on Saturday, November 2 at 2 p.m. at Stow against the winner between St. Vincent-St. Mary and Canfield.
