Edward Ryan is in his third season as an assistant coach with the Gilmour Academy hockey program in the 2021-22 school year. He is a USA Hockey Level 4 Certified coach. He is also the head coach of the Gilmour Academy Middle School baseball team.

Ryan’s previous coaching experience includes time at the high school and junior levels as both a head and assistant hockey coach in Massachusetts, Michigan and Ohio. Additionally, he has coached youth baseball from U-8 to U-16 and youth soccer from U-10 to U-18, both while in Massachusetts.

During his playing days, Ryan attended St. Mark’s School where he was a three-sport athlete, excelling in football, hockey and baseball. He went on to play varsity men’s ice hockey at Trinity College in Connecticut as a goaltender and earned a bachelor’s degree in political science.

Ryan is in his third year of employment as the Gilmour Academy Dean of Residential Life. He has done volunteer work through the Massachusetts Veterans Work Job Placement, the Massachusetts Youth Service Advocacy, the Southeastern Massachusetts Food Pantry and Metro Detroit Adults with Disabilities.

The Ashland, Mass. native, currently resides in Gates Mills, Ohio, for the majority of the year, while spending part of the year in Cheboygan, Mich. He and his wife, MarySue, have five children, Kate (35), Ry (34), Matt (33), Ty (32) and Kaly (28), as well as three grandchildren, Mia (4), Griffon (2) and Maeve (1).
