Title: Assistant Coach - Varsity (Pitching)

Rick Siebert is in his third season as an assistant coach with the Gilmour Academy baseball program with the 2022 season, bringing with him a very successful playing career to draw upon through his coaching.

A graduate of Benedictine High School, Siebert continued his playing career at the collegiate level at Kent State University where he was a standout pitcher. At the conclusion of his freshman season with the Golden Flashes, he was drafted by the Atlanta Braves in the seventh round of the 1983 MLB Draft. In 1987, Siebert made the 40-man roster and was slated to be the closer for the Braves before suffering an arm injury. Determined to get back to the Majors, he went through intense rehab and was back in action in 1988 only to have his second chance cut short because of a knee injury. After additional rehab, he went on to play in Europe in 1990 and 1991 before becoming a replacement player with the Cincinnati Reds organization in 1995. Later that same year, he became a private pitching instructor in the Cleveland area.

Siebert currently resides in Mentor, Ohio. He has one daughter, Kennedy (17), and works for Steve’s Sports while continuing to teach private pitching lessons.
