Ryan Williams is in his second year as an assistant coach with the Gilmour Academy football program during the 2021 season. He serves as the offensive coordinator and his responsibilities include overseeing the offensive and defensive line units. Williams arrived at GA with more than two decades of coaching experience.

Williams got his start coaching at St. Peter Chanel High School where he was the defensive line coach from 1998-2000. During his time with the Firebirds, they won two North Coast League (NCL) championships and were an Ohio High School Athletic Association (OHSAA) Division V state semifinalist in 1999 and state runner-up in 2000.

Williams went on to coach at Case Western Reserve University as an offensive line coach in 2001 before returning to the high school ranks. He was a defensive coordinator at Maple Heights High School from 2002-06, in which time the Mustangs qualified for the playoffs all five seasons, while winning the Lake Erie League (LEL) in four of those years.

From 2007-12, Williams was the varsity head coach at Beachwood High School and then became a varsity offensive coordinator at West Geauga High School (2013-14). In 2015, he coached at Euclid High School as the Panthers advanced all the way to the regional finals.

Immediately prior to Gilmour, Williams was the head coach at Newbury High School (2016-19), directing the team to a 20-year program-best record of 7-3 in 2019, while also being named Ohio Division VII Coach of the Year.

During his playing days, Williams was a four-year letterwinner at Tuscarawas Central Catholic High School, playing both offensive and defensive line. He started in 41 games, which tied the school record. He was named All-Ohio in 1993 as the team made the playoffs for just the second time in program history. He continued his athletic career at Baldwin Wallace University as an offensive guard from 1994-97, earning two varsity letters.

Williams earned a bachelor’s degree from Baldwin Wallace in middle school education before going on to earn a master’s degree in teaching and learning from Nova Southeastern University.

Williams currently resides in Twinsburg, Ohio, with his wife of 18 years, Kristin. They have three children: Katie (16), Jake (14) and Lexi (11). He is in his 23rd year as a 7th grade math teacher at Roxboro Middle School.
