The Gilmour varsity figure skating team is gearing up for the Ohio High School Figure Skating Championships, which are being held February 8-9.

The team has grown to 14 skaters who are training for multiple events including freeskates, short programs, moves in the field, dance, interpretive, showcase and team maneuvers.

Team captain Elizabeth Horwitz '21 will be leading the team as they try and capture the high school title this year.

"Our strength is numbers this season," said head coach Kelly Lynch. "Our roster is growing each year with this year's squad willing to enter the maximum number of allowed events. That will help us with points earned."

The team is scheduled in 30 events that weekend.

"I'm excited to see us compete. Our hope is that Gilmour will move up in the standings this year, not only because of our increased numbers, but because of our athletes' enthusiasm and willingness to compete in multiple events," said Lynch.

More information will be posted to Gilmour social media once the schedule is released.
