Boys Basketball: Lancers Complete Sweep of Padua as O'Toole Earns NH Player of the Week

The boys basketball program was in action just once this past week, completing a 6-0 season sweep of North Coast League (NCL) foe Padua Franciscan at all three levels.

The varsity team's 68-37 victory was powered by a 16-0 run in the second quarter and a 19-0 run in the fourth. Connor O'Toole '20 (pictured right) turned in a well-rounded performance that included 17 points, eight rebounds, six assists and four steals. He also took his 17th charge of the season and made five 3-pointers, helping the Lancers set a season-high with a total of 11 long-range field goals. His efforts led to his selection as the News-Herald Player of the Week. Additional statistical highlights from the game included Brandon Rose '23 with seven points, five rebounds, three blocks, two assists and two steals and Max Snyder '20 (pictured left) with three points, five rebounds and four assists. The play that really made the crowd come alive was Teddy FitzGerald '21 with his running baseline floater with two minutes remaining in the game.

At the junior varsity level, Dorjan Flowers '23 scored a career-high 25 points in a 56-46 win against the Bruins. The Lancers made 11 three-pointers with Adisa Molton '23 and Nathan Nootbaar '22 combining for five. Michael DiPuccio '22 played tremendous defense, grabbing seven rebounds while guarding Padua's leading scorer.

At the freshman level, Gilmour grinded out another victory. Forward Chad Plucinsky '23 dominated on both ends, pulling down six rebounds, taking four steals, dishing out three assists and leading all scorers with 14 points. Ian Baird '23 added 11 points and five rebounds, while guards Marcus Berrios '23, Jackson Wahl '23 and Mason Albano '23 combined for seven assists.
