Boys Basketball: Gilmour Wins at Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse

It was a very busy week for the varsity boys basketball team with three games in five days. The team headlined its week with a trip to Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse to take on John Adams. The Lancers put up 88 points in a blowout win. Max Snyder '20 scored a career-high 10 points as 13 players scored for the blue and gray. Connor O'Toole '20 made five 3-point field goals, while Ian Miller '20 contributed nine points, five rebounds and four steals. Andre Rodgers '21 was a perfect 4-for-4 from the free throw line, while Garrett Olsen '20 added 10 points.
 
The Lancers then fell to Walsh Jesuit on Thursday night in a North Coast League (NCL) game 69-54. O'Toole led the team with 17 points, which included another five 3-point field goal performance. Joe Hollis '20 came off the bench asking to guard one of the biggest players in the league, while contributing six points, five rebounds and two blocks. Rodgers had 10 points and five assists as Brandon Rose '23 totaled five points and five rebounds. 
 
On Saturday, 12 players contributed to the box score as Gilmour defeated Hawken 68-43. Ben DeMell '21 led all scorers with 13 points to go along with six rebounds. Ryan Mueller '22 tallied six points and five rebounds, while Snyder tied his career-high in points from earlier in the week, adding 10 points with two 3-point field goals. The defensive effort was led by Miller and Rodgers. 
 
At the junior varsity level, Nathan Nootbaar'22 had back-to-back games of eight-plus rebounds to help the Lancers split two games with Walsh and Hawken this past weekend. Dorjan Flowers '23 combined for 24 points and13 assists, while Matt Benisek '21 and Adisa Molton '23 helped create turnovers with great full-court pressure. Nathan Flaherty '22 came off the bench to provide great passing. Leo Dunlevy '22 contributed strong minutes in the win against Hawken, helping on both ends of the floor. Ryan Hoyt '21 played a tremendous floor game this weekend, making big passes and finishing at the rim. 
 
At the freshman level, Charlie Snelling '23 led the scoring this past week against Walsh and Hawken, finishing with great drives and post moves at the rim. Chad Plucinsky '23 continued his strong freshman campaign, leading the way on the glass. Mason Albano '23, Jackson Wahl '23 and Macus Berrios '23 paced the Lancers from the perimeter, sharing the ball well and hitting shots from long range. Jacob Lowery '23 showcased his physicality on defense, while Logan DeWeese '23 chipped in several jump shots after coming off the bench.
