Boys Basketball: Gilmour Dominates NDCL at All Three Levels

The varsity boys basketball team earned another victory. In a game they led from start to finish, the Lancers beat North Coast League (NCL) opponent Notre Dame-Cathedral Latin High School 58-43. The win moved the Lancers to 4-3 in the NCL, securing a second-place standing in the White Division. Connor O'Toole '20 had 12 points and six assists, while Andre Rodgers '21 combined with O'Toole to go 8-for-10 from the free throw line to seal the win. Ian Miller '20 (pictured on left) played a tremendous game, leading all scorers with 13 points. He also had four rebounds and three assists. Ryan Mueller '22 came off the bench to lead the team in rebounding with six. Max Snyder '20 recorded a 3-point field goal for the third straight game as Vinny Bandwen '21 (pictured on right) came off the bench to add six points.

At the junior varsity level, the Lancers never trailed and went on to win in dominating fashion, 59-43 against NDCL. The trio of Adisa Molton '23, Dorjan Flowers '23 and Matt Benisek '21 led the way with a combined 38 points. Nathan Nootbaar '22 added eight rebounds, while Ryan Hoyt '21 chipped in five assists. Michael DiPuccio '23 played a strong game on the defensive end, adding nine rebounds and three steals. Robert Sullivan '22 added four steals and four rebounds and Viraj Jain '22 tallied his first steal of the season.

The freshman team won back-to-back road games this past week at Harvey and NDCL. Mason Albano '23 had a monster week, scoring 32 total points. He also led the team in assists and steals. Ian Baird '23 had a tremendous game at NDCL with 17 points and seven rebounds. Charlie Snelling '23 was a major contributor, scoring 15 points in each contest, to go along with 14 total rebounds. Jackson Wahl '23 added five assists and three steals, while Chad Plucinsky '23 led the defensive charge, succeeding at his assignment to defend the opponent's best player.

In other basketball news, Gilmour's varsity team earned the No. 4 seed in the Stow-Munroe Falls District. The Lancers earned the right to host a sectional final game and will welcome Field High School on Tuesday, February 25 at 7 p.m. Tickets will go on sale the night of the game at 6 p.m. and are $7 for adults and $5 for students. No GA Family Athletic Passes or student/staff IDs are permitted for free admission due to tournament regulations set by the Ohio High School Athletic Association (OHSAA). Additionally, the use of signs, posters and artificial noisemakers of any kind is prohibited.
