Boys Basketball: Regular Season Concludes for all Three Levels

The varsity boys basketball team concluded the regular season with strong wins against Willoughby South and John F. Kennedy Catholic School to improve its overall record to 14-8. Connor O'Toole '20 broke the assists per game record he previously set, by dishing out 12 assists against South before going on to set a new record at 13 against JFK. Other highlights of the week included Ryan Mueller '22 coming off the bench to tie his career-high for rebounds in a game with eight in each game. Joe Hollis '20 (pictured on the right) tied his career-high for points in a game with eight in the Senior Night win against JFK.  Brandon Rose '23 added 11 points against South. Garrett Olsen '20 scored a career-high 18 points that included another personal-best four 3-pointers. Max Snyder '20 (pictured on the left) and Ian Miller '20 led the defensive efforts for the week, as Ben DeMell '21 added 10 and 11 points, respectively.  

At the junior varsity level, Gilmour defeated JFK and lost to Cleveland Central Catholic to finish the season at 15-7. Against JFK, Matt Benisek '21 had 22 points, five assists and three steals, while Dorjan Flowers '23 had 12 points, five rebounds and four assists. On the defensive end, Michael DiPuccio '22 played well and grabbed eight rebounds to go with two steals. Leo Dunlevy '22 concluded the Lancer scoring attack, making a bucket in transition, which was the final score of the season on the team's home court. In the team's loss to CCC, Adisa Molton '23 scored 13 points and had four assists and three steals, while Nathan Nootbaar '22 led all players with nine rebounds. 

At the freshman level, the Lancers finished the year at 15-6 overall after a hard-fought loss to CCC. Mason Albano '23 totaled 12 points, four assists and four steals, while Charlie Snelling '23 recorded 11 points and seven rebounds. Ian Baird '23 gave a solid effort with seven points and seven rebounds as Chad Plucinsky '23 turned in a well-rounded performance with eight points, four assists and three steals. 

While the JV and freshman teams have finished competing for the season, the varsity team continues its run in the postseason with a sectional final game against Cuyahoga Valley Christian Academy at 7 p.m. on February 28. The tournament game is being played at Gilmour. All fans are reminded that GA Family Passes and student/staff IDs are not accepted for free admission to any tournament game, including those played on campus. This is in accordance with OHSAA regulations. Tickets go on sale at 6 p.m. and are $7 for adults and $5 for students.
