Three Lancers Named News Herald Players of the Week

Three Gilmour student-athletes were recognized by The News Herald as "Player of the Week" in their respective sports; Ben DeMell '21 was honored in boys basketball, Kylee Radigan '22 in swimming, and Kessel Richards '21 in hockey.

DeMell averaged 17.7 points per game, 6.3 rebounds per game, and shot an incredible 74.1 percent from the field in three games against Padua, Hawken, and Lutheran East last week. DeMell has been an asset for the Lancers, helping the team start the season with a 3-2 record.  This fall, DeMell signed his National Letter of Intent to continue his academic and baseball career at Penn State University next year.

Radigan had first-place individual finishes in the 200 backstroke, 500 freestyle and 200 individual medley against Saint Joseph Academy and Chagrin Falls High School. Against those teams, she also was a member of the winning 200 freestyle and 400 freestyle relays. A team captain, Radigan has been a crucial part of the team's 6-0 start to the season.

Against Shaker Heights, Richards scored three goals, thus successfully completing a hat trick against a strong league opponent. Currently, Richards leads the Lancers Varsity A team in scoring with eight total goals in nine games. Richards, a top forward for the Lancers, has been instrumental in the team's third-place ranking in the Ohio High School State Poll this week.

Congratulations to DeMell, Radigan and Richards on this incredible honor!
