GA Repeats as District Champions, Headed to Sweet 16
  • The Gilmour Academy varsity boys basketball team won a second straight District title this past weekend
  • The Lancers used an 84-70 win over Buchtel High School to win the North Ridgeville District
  • The Griffins came into the game as the seventh-ranked team in the state in Division II
  • With the win, Gilmour advances to the Regional round of the OHSAA Tournament, the state's "Sweet 16"
  • Gilmour will face Toledo Central Catholic High School in a Regional semifinal Thursday, March 10, at the Stroh Center on the campus of Bowling Green State University
  • This is believed to be the first time in program history that Gilmour has won District titles in back-to-back seasons
  • Brandon Rose '23 scored a team-high 26 points against Buchtel on 8-of-12 shooting from the floor and a 10-of-14 mark from the line
  • Rose added nine rebounds, four assists and a game-high three blocks
  • Ryan Mueller '22 was on fire from distance against the Griffins as he drained 7-of-8 from international waters
  • Mueller finished with 24 points and five boards
  • Nathan Nootbaar '22 came up with one his biggest games of the season when his team needed him the most
  • Nootbaar notched a double-double of 14 points and a game-high 10 rebounds while also adding five assists
  • Adisa Molton II '23 finished with eight points and a team-high six assists for Gilmour
  • Lucas Grover '22 finished with eight points while making his first-ever varsity start
  • Gilmour led 36-30 at the half and slowly expanded its lead as the second half wore on
  • Gilmour shot an astounding 57.8 percent from the field as a team while holding Buchtel to a 42.6 percent mark
  • The Lancers had advanced to the District final with a 64-48 win against Shaw High School
  • Gilmour led by just one at the half (33-32) but tightened up defensively in the second half to prevail
  • The Lancers allowed just 16 second-half points in the victory
  • Rose led the way with a double-double, tallying game highs in both points (25) and rebounds (10)
  • Mueller just missed a double-double, notching 12 points and nine rebounds
  • Molton added seven points, five rebounds and five assists
  • Dorjan Flowers '23 posted nine rebounds and five assists along with four points
  • Grover and Nootbaar contributed eight points each as neither missed a shot all night
  • Gilmour held Shaw to 36.5 percent shooting from the field
  • The Lancers outrebounded the Cardinals 39-20 and did not allow a single second-chance point
