Joe Pfundstein '84 is in his 11th year as a head coach with the Gilmour Academy Middle School boys basketball team with the 2021-22 school year, taking the reins of the 7th grade team.

Pfundstein’s relationship with Gilmour goes back to when he was a Lancer during the early 1980s when he was a member of the varsity golf team.

Since that time, Pfundstein has been active in the world of coaching for a couple of decades. He began as a CYO football, basketball and baseball coach at St. Rita’s (1989-95) and then as a coach with Solon travel baseball and basketball (1995-99). He coached Diamond Boys 18U baseball (2000-01) and has been a Solon Elite softball coach since 2012, as well as the Solon High School junior varsity softball head coach.

Pfundstein has a Bachelor’s degree in chemistry from Boston College and a Juris Doctor from Case Western Reserve University. For the past 20 years, he has been an attorney at Joseph A. Pfundstein, Attorney at Law. He and his wife of 19 years, Kelly, reside in Solon, Ohio, with their two daughters, Gretchen (18) and Emma (16). He is the older brother of Gilmour’s Dean of Student Life and Leadership, David Pfundstein ’93.
