Noah Horstman is in his second year as the head coach of the Gilmour Academy golf program. He recently relocated to the state of Ohio after having grown up in Medford, Ore. He was a four year letterman in golf at South Medford High School where he was part of the school’s first and only state championship. He went on to play golf collegiately at Pacific University, where he also served as team captain. He earned All-Northwest Conference while winning several tournaments.
Horstman earned a bachelor’s degree in business and then went on to become a golf professional at Illahe Hills Country Club in Salem, Ore. He spent one year as the boys golf coach at his high school alma mater then coached four seasons of men’s and women’s golf at Willamette University. During that time, he helped propel both programs from eighth in the conference to earning top three finishes after just two seasons. He coached the individual conference champion, as well as several conference players of the week. Both programs earned multiple Top 25 rankings in the country under his direction.
After moving to Ohio, Horstman became the PGA director of instruction at Beechmont Country Club. Along with his former position at Illahe, he developed a number of players into NCAA Division I scholarship golfers and worked with one USGA National Championship winner.
Additional highlights of Hortman’s professional career include being the 2015 Northern Ohio Youth Player Development Award winner, a 2015 PGA National Teacher of the Year nominee, a 2014 Northern Ohio Section PGA Teacher of the Year, a 2014 US Kids Certified Instructor Top 50 Honorable Mention honoree, a 2010 Assistant Golf Professional of the Year Oregon Chapter PGA, and a NG360 Golf Fitness Performance Specialist.
Horstman currently resides in Reminderville, Ohio, with his wife of five years, Kimberly, and their daughter Emma (2). He is an eight-year member of PGA America, as well as an Eagle Scout. He is an active volunteer for Special Olympics and has also been involved with First Tee of Phoenix, First Tee of Cleveland and the PGA Hope Program.
