The Gilmour Academy varsity boys golf team is headed to the state tournament! The Lancers earned their bid after finishing as the runner-up in the Ohio High School Athletic Association (OHSAA) Division III District Tournament played October 8 at Tannenhauf Golf Club in Alliance.

"This is a big deal for the program," said head coach Jamey Polak. "We've finished third at the district level the previous three years, so to finish second today was great. The course was playing tough and all of the teams had to deal with shooting higher than average scores, but our guys did a really good job of staying focused."

The Lancers totaled 328 to finish second out of 12 teams. Alex Swinarski '22 recorded the low score for the Lancers with 80, followed by Liam Ottaway '21 (81), Jack Popovich '22 (83), Harry Rogers '22 (84) and Parker Barrett '24 (88).

Gilmour will now contend for a state title next Friday and Saturday (October 16-17) at the OHSAA Division III Boys Golf State Tournament at NorthStar Golf Club in Sunbury, Ohio.
