Varsity Boys Hockey: GA Takes Runner-Up in Canada as Tuggey, Stefan and Herlong Receive All-Tournament Honors

The OHSAA #3 state-ranked Lancer Varsity A boys hockey team headed north to compete in the Gary West Senior Tournament in Ontario, Canada this past weekend. Gilmour went 4-0 in round robin play to earn a spot in the championship game, where they then lost to King City Secondary School 6-5. The championship game was well-played and featured a Gilmour comeback in which the Lancers rallied from two goals down headed into the third period. Gilmour tied the game early in the final period before taking a one-goal lead. The Lancers relinquished the advantage in the final four minutes before giving up the game-winning goal with only five seconds left to play. This was the third consecutive year these two teams have met in the finals of this tournament.
 
Gilmour's road to the championship game included wins against Lakeland College School 4-2 St. Andrews College 5-1, Korah Collegiate and Vocational School 4-2 and St. Charles College 5-0.
 
Charlie Tuggey '21Dylan Stefan '21 and Toby Herlong '21 were named to the All-Tournament team.
