The Lancer 16-U boys hockey team came into the weekend riding an eight-game winning streak, but unfortunately that count came to an end. Coaches and players knew competing against the Tier 1 Pittsburgh Predators 16-U AAA team would not be easy, but were hoping their home ice would prove to the Lancers' advantage.

Heading into the third period of Game One of the two-game series, the score was tied at one. The Predators heated up in the final period and went on to end the Gilmour winning streak by a score of 4-1. Then in Game Two, the Lancers came out ready to skate with the opponents. Gilmour again looked strong early on, but the Predator goalie was quite strong and kept the Lancer attack at bay. The score was knotted at two midway through the third period before an unlucky deflection gave the guests the lead. A final empty-netter goal resulted in a 4-2 loss for Gilmour.
