It was a big week for the Varsity A boys hockey team, with even bigger weeks ahead. The Lancers took on first-place St. Edward High School in a Great Lakes Hockey League (GLHL) showdown on the road Friday night. The game was tied at two in regulation, forcing overtime. Neither team scored in the bonus period, resulting in a tie. That result earned Gilmour one point in the league standings, moving the Lancers into a three-way tie for second place with Shaker Heights and University School. Gilmour will have a shot to knock both those teams off the runner-up ledge on the weekend of February 8-9 while still vying for a shot at the top of the standings.

The Lancers were also on the road for two other games this past weekend in the St. Ignatius Showcase played in Brooklyn, Ohio. Gilmour took on two teams from Michigan. In a back-and-forth scoring effort, the Lancers finished victorious against a very good Salmen High School team 4-3. Gilmour finished the weekend against the number one team from the state of Michigan, Stevenson High School out of Livonia. Gilmour hung in for a period before the top-ranked northern opponents pulled away for a 6-0 win.

The Lancers have an overall record of 19-5-3.
