It was a weekend filled with memorable moments for the Varsity A boys hockey team. Saturday afternoon, Lancers past and present gathered in the lobby of the Gilmour Ice Arena for a special renaming ceremony. The facility, which will now be known as the Floyd E. Stefanski Ice Center, was dedicated to the late father of Brian '05, Gavin '07, Evan '11 and Amanda '13 and brother of Ben II '56 and Marc '72.  Brian, Gavin and Evan played hockey while attending Gilmour and Floyd and his wife, Kathleen, were proud supporters of Lancer hockey during that time and long after. The dedication ceremony was held on the same day the Lancers hosted Shaker Heights, which is Floyd's alma mater.

Gilmour went on to defeat Shaker 4-1, clinching the Great Lakes Hockey League (GLHL) regular season championship. It is the second consecutive season the Lancers earned the title.

The next day, Gilmour took on crosstown rival University School and came away with a 4-1 victory.

Gilmour next heads to the Cleveland Cup and will play in the semifinal round at 6 p.m. on February 14 against the winner between US and Holy Name. The winner of the semifinal round advances to the championship game on February 15 at 7 p.m. Both games will be played at OBM Arena.
