Doug Tayek
Title: Program Assistant Goaltending Coach

Doug Tayek is rejoining the Gilmour Academy program in 2021-22 after spending a year away pursuing an educational opportunity.  He will serve as the program’s Assistant Goaltending Coach this season where he will work with the Lancers’ three high-school level teams.

Prior to last year, Tayek spent five years (2014 – 2019) as a goaltending coach and assistant coach for the Varsity A and Varsity B teams – serving on the Varsity A staff that won Gilmour’s first Cleveland Cup in 2018. Prior to joining the Gilmour program in 2015, Tayek was the goaltending coach for Solon High School from 2010 to 2014, serving on a coaching staff that made five consecutive Baron Cup appearances, winning the Baron Cup II in 2013. Tayek also served as the goalie coach for Team Ohio in 2008 and 2009. Tayek has a Level 4 USA Hockey coaching certification.

Tayek played on Gilmour’s varsity team from 1997 to 2000 and graduated from Gilmour in 2000. He owns a Bachelor’s degree in history from Kent State University and a Master’s degree in applied politics from the University of Akron. He works full time as an Associate State Director for Outreach and Advocacy for AARP Ohio. Tayek currently serves on the Board of Directors for Cleveland Catholic Charities and for the Cuyahoga County Division of Senior and Adult Services. Tayek lives in Shaker Heights with his wife Andrea.
