The varsity boys lacrosse team improved to 5-1 overall with two wins this past week. On the road to start the week, the Lancers defeated Roosevelt High School 12-7 to give head coach Jim Scully his 100th varsity career win. Goalie Kessel Richards '21 was on fire early between the pipes and finished the game with 13 saves and five ground balls as Gilmour never trailed the entire game. Midfielder and captain Cisco Martinez '19 (pictured on the left) finished with six goals, one assist and seven ground balls to pace the Lancer offense. Attackman Jesse Galassi '19 added two goals, one assist and six ground balls. Rounding out the scoring was midfielder Robby Belknap '21 with one goal and two assists; attackman Tate Simpson '21 (pictured on the right) with two goals; midfielder Shea Hofstrom '22 with one goal, one assist and five ground balls; attackman Lee Sullivan '19 with two assists; and midfield captain Ricky Roberts '20 with one assist. Defenseman Bryce Hofstrom '20 led a strong defensive effort with five ground balls. Gilmour won the ground-ball battle with 41 team ground balls as compared to Roosevelt's 22. Shots were close with the Lancers rifling 24 on the cage to the Rough Riders 23.

In the team's second and final game of the week, Gilmour hosted Cleveland Heights in quite possibly the most athletic and exciting game for the program so far this season. The Lancers had a hard time avoiding costly turnovers as well as getting quality shots on goal, totaling just 19 for the game. The opponents fought to tie the contest at six with three minutes remaining. Neither team scored as the clock wound down in regulation. In the first overtime period, Cleveland Heights came close to ending things with a shot off the pipe as time once again expired without either team scoring. In double overtime, Martinez settled the contest with a shot from the left wing with less than two minutes remaining to give Gilmour the 7-6 victory. Martinez led the way with three goals and six ground balls, followed by Simpson with one goal and two assists, and Sullivan with two assists and four ground balls. Trey Stein '19 and defenseman Josh Miavitz '20 each netted goals while midfielders Nico DiGianantonio '20 and Connor Underwood '22 both recorded their first varsity points with assists.
