- The Gilmour Academy varsity boys lacrosse team had successful start to the 2022 season as it won a pair of close contests last week
- The Lancers began the year with a 13-10 victory over Cuyahoga Valley Christian Academy at a rainy Weber Stadium
- It was a notable victory as the Lancers had dropped a 14-12 contest to CVCA in their season opener last year
- Attackman Cam Bajzer '22 led the way with six goals and two assists
- Attackman Luke Radke '23 had five points, including four assists, and six ground balls
- Midfielder Johnny Maruna '24 added two goals and an assist
- Midfielder Nick Arrington '24 scored twice, his first career varsity points
- Midfielder Shea Hofstrom '22 netted a pair of assists, making nine of GA's 13 goals assisted
- Defenseman Brady Pietruszka '24 scored his first career varsity goal while causing six turnovers
- Goaltender Rocco Hice '23 had a fantastic performance, stopping 21 Royal shots in the victory
- In its road opener later in the week, Gilmour claimed a thrilling 10-9 overtime victory over Riverside High School
- Bajzer scored the game-winning tally after Nathan Turocy '23 won a critical faceoff
- Bajzer once again led Gilmour offensively, tallying four goals and two assists
- Attackman Matthew Bauman '23 contributed two goals, an assist and five ground balls
- Hofstrom scored two goals from the perimeter
- Midfielders Jacob Malinas '23 and Eli Swirsky '23 each added a goal
- Defenseman Alex Atchison '23 scooped up five ground balls and caused four turnovers
- Midfielder Max Treppo '22 recorded an assist, tallied three ground balls, won three faceoffs and caused two turnovers
- Hice made 13 more saves in the cage, once again stopping well over half the shots he faced
