The Gilmour Academy cross country program made the trip down SOM Center Road to University School to take on the host Preppers and Shaker Heights in a tri-meet. US is known for its difficult course, full of hills, woods and winding paths. The Lancer boys were up to the challenge, however, and put together an impressive team race to place second in the Open Division race. Shaker was first with 24, Gilmour had 42 and US 68. Gilmour was paced by Scott Vergilii '23, who took home first place individually with a smart, tactical race. Tim Papczun '24 (pictured on the right) crossed in fourth in a career-best time. Strong runs by Michael Piccirrillo '24 (seventh), Andrew Lewis '23 (24th) and Ben Lindley '24 (25th) sealed runner-up honors for Gilmour.

The girls raced second against Hathaway Brown and Shaker Heights. The race promised to be exciting, as it was full of outstanding individuals from three of the area's strongest teams. When the last runners crossed the line, Shaker had prevailed with 32, while the Lancers held off HB 46 to 48. The Lancers were paced by Amy Weybrecht '24 and Caitrina Barton '21 (pictured of the left), who finished third and fourth respectively. Mary Lombardo '22 ran her season-best time to take home seventh, finishing well and passing many over the last mile. Gia Rosko '24 and Mia Polisena '23 rounded out the scoring for the Lancers, each running outstanding races, finishing 15th and 17th respectively.
