The Gilmour Academy Middle School cross country team competed in its only scheduled competition this fall, the Mentor Minutemen Invitational at Garfield Park. The team has been training hard all month for the meet and went into the event in peak form. Running against nearly 100 runners, the Lancers lined up in their chute ready to roll.

All Lancers performed well and held their own on the course on a beautiful weekday afternoon. Abraham Campbell '25 paced the team with a 14th-place finish, posting a time of 12:08. Thomas Daly '27, who was one of the youngest participants, finished with a time of 14:23 in 54th place. Joel Vaughan '26 was just shy of the 15-minute mark as Matthew Mirando '25 turned in a strong personal performance under 18 minutes. Teammate Sameer Pandya '26 did not race, but was with the team in spirit.

"They all did great," said first-year head coach Caitlin Schudel. "I'm so proud of them. I'm looking forward to finishing out the season with several practices in which we work to improve on each runner's individual time from this meet."
