Kristy Booher Angelo is in her 13th season as an assistant coach with the varsity team as well as the director of softball operations with the 2022 season. She has two decades of coaching experience under her belt, having served as a collegiate women’s basketball coach at Lakeland Community College and NCAA Division II Lake Erie College for a combined six seasons. She also was the Gilmour Middle School volleyball and girls basketball coach for two years and was the head coach of the Lancer junior varsity softball team for several years.

Angelo served as an associate director of athletics at Gilmour from 2009-2020 with the lead role in communications, social media and branding, as well as female program and middle school athletic management. She was named Middle School Athletic Director of the Year in 2014 by the Northeast Ohio Interscholastic Athletic Administrators Association (NEOIAAA). She is the creator of Gilmour's athletic website -- www.gilmourlancers.com -- and is the founder of Swing for a Solution – a fundraising effort which raises awareness for autism. Since its debut in May 2010, the program has raised more than $25,000.

Prior to Gilmour, Angelo compiled nine years of experience at the collegiate level as a director of sports media relations and as a sports information director at such institutions as Lake Erie College, Notre Dame College and Lakeland Community College. While in these positions, her writing was featured in the national publication Touchdown Illustrated and won awards in the CoSIDA Fred S. Stabley Sr. Writing Contest and CoSIDA Grants Contest. At Gilmour, her writing skills were recognized with the Gold Medal Award from the National High School Sports Publication Awards (NHSSPA) for the “Return to Glory” football media guide she wrote and edited.

A graduate of Willoughby South High School, Angelo was a combined seven-year letterwinner in basketball and softball. She earned multiple all-conference, All-Ohio and player of the week honors for both sports, including the two-time state champion and four-time Greater Cleveland Conference (GCC) champion softball team. She is a member of the Rebel Hall of Fame. Angelo continued her softball career at Lakeland, earning all-conference and all-region honors, while also becoming the program’s first National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Academic All-American. She retired as a softball player during the summer of 2018. During her summer softball career, she was a member of several national championships at the amateur level.

Angelo earned an Associate’s degree from Lakeland and a Bachelor’s degree in broadcast journalism from Ohio University’s E.W. Scripps School of Journalism where she is also in the WOUB Radio and Television Hall of Fame. Angelo currently resides in Lyndhurst, Ohio, with her husband Tom and their rescue dog, Carlo.
