Lancer Girls Basketball Recap: Varsity Team Finishes Week 2-1, Has Statement Wins over Hawken and Padua

The Lancer varsity girls basketball team finished the week strong, as they went 2-1 during the final week of winter break.

Bouncing back from a tough loss against Olmsted Falls High School, the Lancers defeated rival Hawken School 59-32. The statement win was a product of a strong offensive effort, led by freshmen Nicci Finazzo '24 and Katie Puletti '24.  Finazzo scored 12 points, and Puletti had 11 points against the Hawks. Defensively, the Lancers proved to be overwhelming against Hawken, as Grace Terranova '22, Madeline Martino '22 and Megan Duffy '21 pressured the ball in the backcourt and forced several turnovers.

On Saturday, the girls beat the Padua Bruins 54-31. Offensively, Lauryn Stover '22 led the Lancers in scoring with 11 points, while Angelina Lonardo '22 hit a couple 3-pointers and scored 9 points. Cooper Flowers '22 dominated the offensive glass and scored a few put-back baskets, as she chipped in with 7 points against the Bruins.

The Lancers are looking forward to another steady week of competition, as they face tough opponents in Beaumont, Shaker Heights and Saint Joseph Academy. Livestream information for the team's upcoming games can be found below:
