- The Gilmour Academy varsity girls basketball team opened the postseason with a pair of lopsided wins this past week
- The Lancers defeated Saint Marin de Porres High School in their playoff opener 61-13 inside Lancer Gymnasium
- Gilmour then topped Villa Angela-St. Joseph High School 66-16 in its final home game of the season
- With their two wins, Gilmour advanced to the OHSAA District Tournament
- Gilmour will face Revere High School Wednesday evening at Streetsboro High School
- The winner will advance to Saturday's OHSAA District Final
- The Lancers had nicely balanced scoring in the win over Saint Martin de Porres
- Madeline Martino '22, Maddie Minotas '24 and Lauryn Stover '22 each finished with 10 points
- Minotas and Stover also tied for team high honors in rebounds with six apiece
- Angelina Lonardo '22 added nine points and five boards in the win
- Nicci Finazzo '24 led GA in both assists (6) and steals (4) in the win
- Stover posted a double-double to lead the Lancers in the win over VASJ
- She led Gilmour in points (16), rebounds (10 ) and assists (6)
- Katie Puletti '24 added 12 points, and shot a perfect 5-for-5 from the floor, while adding a team-high four assists
- Martino produced a solid all-around game, finishing with 11 points, six rebounds and five assists
- Cooper Flowers '22 notched eight rebounds along with four points in the win over the Vikings
- Gilmour improved to 15-9 on the season with its pair of Sectional Tournament victories
- The Lancers are also 6-1 in the month of February
