Seven Lancers Earn USA Hockey Camp Selections

Seven members of the Gilmour Academy girls prep hockey program were selected for National Player Development Camps as USA Hockey recently announced the rosters.

Alaina Giampietro '22 headlines the list of selections for Gilmour as she was named to the U18 Select Development Camp roster. In doing so, she skipped over the 16/17 Development Camp for which she was age-eligible. The U18 Select Camp features the top 72 age-eligible players in the country, 64 skaters and eight goalies, from which USA's U18 National Team will be selected.

Both incoming Lancer Sophia Johnson '23 and current player Lyla Tsu '23 were named to the 16/17 Development Camp roster. Additionally, goaltender Allison Schuh '23 was tabbed as an alternate for the 16/17 roster, a wonderful accomplishment considering the depth of the goalie position pool at this level. Players attending the 16/17 camp will be competing for a number of remaining roster spots at the U18 Select Camp.

A pair of incoming Lancers-- Malaya Anaba '24 and Addie Wagner '25—and current team member Lauren Riccobelli '24 were tabbed to participate at the U15 National Development Camp. Furthermore, GA assistant coach Dean Kelly was named as a coach for the U15 camp.

All the National Development Camps will take place at St. Cloud State University in St. Cloud, Minn. The 16-17 Camp takes place June 26 – July 2, the 15s Camp takes place July 10-15 and the U18 camp will be held July 16-22.

USA Hockey hosts three National Player Development Camps for girls ages 15, 16 and 17 (2004, 2005 and 2006 birth years in 2021). The week-long experience at any of the three camps exposes participants to various 'best practices' and training strategies so players can return home with the tools to develop their skills over the course of that season (and seasons to come).

At the Girls 15 Camp, players will experience a competitive, age-specific environment with on-ice training (drills, small area games, competitions, etc.) and off-ice training (strength & conditioning, team building, nutrition, classroom, etc.).

At the 16/17 Development Camp, USA Hockey continues to provide a competitive and challenging learning environment for participating players. In addition to USA Hockey's priority of focusing on player development, this camp is an evaluation-based camp to determine which players will advance for the remaining available spots for the Girls U18 Select Camp.

At the U18 Select Development Camp, USA Hockey continues to provide a similar curriculum that is used at all of the Girls National Development Camps. In addition to USA Hockey's priority of focusing on athlete development, this camp is also an evaluation-based camp to determine which players will advance to future U18 programming.
