- The Gilmour Academy girls prep hockey team advanced to the Elite Eight at the recently concluded USA Hockey National Championships
- It marked the first time in program history that the Lancers reached the quarterfinal round of the national tournament
- The tournament, which wrapped up earlier this week, was hosted by Pittsburgh Penguins Elite at a pair of facilities in suburban Pittsburgh
- Gilmour was the fourth seed in its four-team group, but the Lancers pulled a pair of upsets to finish among the top two and qualify for the bracket portion of the event
- In its opening game at the tournament, Gilmour claimed a 5-3 victory over the Worcester White Hawks
- After falling behind in the first minute of the game, Gilmour scored three unanswered goals to take control
- Ziya Damas '23, Alaina Giampietro '22, Isabel Goolie '23, Emma Pickering '23 and Alayna Toole '22 each scored for Gilmour
- Maggie Hatch '22 made 34 saves in goal as GA upset one of the nation's top teams
- Gilmour dropped a 4-2 decision in its second game of the tournament to Shattuck-St. Mary's Prep
- Sophie Healey '23 and Pickering each scored in the setback
- Entering their final group-stage game, the Lancers knew they needed a win to guarantee a trip to the quarterfinal round
- That's exactly what Gilmour did as it claimed a 2-1 victory over Florida Alliance
- Damas and Giampietro each scored while Healey added an assist
- Hatch saved 28 of 29 shots on goal to tally the win in net
- The historic victory ensured Gilmour was one of the final eight teams to complete its season at the 19-U Tier 1 level
- Gilmour went on to drop its national quarterfinal contest to the Chicago Mission
- In addition to claiming their second-ever Mid-American District title, Gilmour won both the 2 Nations College Prep Tournament and the Northwood School Invitational during the season
- Gilmour won 52 games this past season, tied for the third-highest figure in the nation
